Bachelor Degree in Bible and Theology

For those who are pastors, evangelists, and local church leaders, the BA in Bible and Theology prepares students to provide spiritual leadership and effective ministry in every dimension of the local church. This degree also well suits those students who are called by God to pursue further training at the master’s degree level in ministerial and theological studies.

The BA in Bible and Theology requires 120 credit hours in the fields of Bible, theology, New Testament Greek of Biblical Hebrew, church ministries, general education, and general electives. For the BA, 87 credits are earned from ABC through courses developed and evaluated by our faculty and Academic Affairs Committee. If credits are transferred to ABC from another institution, they are included in these 87 credits. The remaining 33 credits must be earned by taking GU courses. GU courses are taught by ABC faculty using GU study materials and administering GU-developed final examinations. The GU courses offered at ABC are listed below (see “Global University Courses”).

Extension Program

Addis Ababa Bible College provides training for volunteer Christian workers, professionals, and lay people who are serving the Lord, the church, and the community with their talents and skills. This evening program and Friday-only classes aim to equip professionals in Bible and theological understanding. Classes are taught at ABC five evenings each week during a regular semester. The admissions requirements for the extension program remain the same as those for the regular applicants except those entering the evening program are not required to be involved in fulltime ministry.

In-Ministry Training Program (IMTP)

The In-Ministry Training Program offers the BA degree in Bible/Theology as block courses which requires the same 120 credits hours in the fields of Bible and Theology during the long and short breaks (June-August and January). This program is targeted for full-time ministers who can only come to Addis Ababa for block courses while remaining in full-time ministry service.
